The Sub-Concessionaire recently submitted to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy and to the Independent Engineer the Development Program and Management Study (Master Plan) for the “Philippos II” Port, which has the following main objectives:
- The identification of the port’s needs and capabilities, aiming at the improvement of its infrastructure, functionality, and operational productivity, in order to meet the requirements of the next 25 years.
- The definition of the strategic development framework and the prioritization of interventions by port zone and sub-zone.
- The rational organization and, where necessary, the decongestion and/or reorganization of existing land uses, facilities, and internal traffic flows, with the objective of optimizing port operations and reducing overlaps between activities.
- The scheduling of the port’s development in relation to the construction of infrastructure projects, taking into account the techno-economic characteristics of each distinct use, as well as the mandatory investments provided for under the Sub-Concession Agreement.
- The assurance of compatibility between port planning and the applicable spatial and urban planning frameworks, national and European port policies, as well as the institutional and environmental framework governing the port’s operation, with the aim of reducing its environmental footprint and transforming it into a modern and “green” port.
